Legal
My apps are designed with privacy as a default. The majority of my apps are utilities that operate entirely on-device and do not require you to create an account or transmit personal data to any server I operate.
Where data is collected — for example through optional crash reporting or analytics — it is collected only to the extent necessary to maintain and improve the app, and is handled in accordance with this policy.
The type and extent of data collected varies by app. The following describes the categories of data that may be collected across my apps:
Some apps allow you to enter information — such as numerical inputs, preferences, or personal settings — to generate results. This information is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to me or any third party. I do not have access to information you enter into the app.
Where enabled, I may collect anonymised crash reports and basic usage analytics through Apple's built-in frameworks or third-party tools (see Section 9). This may include:
This data does not identify you personally. You can control diagnostic sharing through your device's Privacy Settings under Analytics & Improvements.
Unless explicitly stated within a specific app, I do not collect:
Any data collected is used solely for the following purposes:
I do not use your data for marketing, advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than maintaining and improving the app you have chosen to use.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Data may be shared in the following limited circumstances:
Where I use third-party tools (such as crash reporting services), those providers may receive anonymised technical data as described in Section 2. These providers are contractually required to protect the data and are prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
I may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of myself or others.
In the unlikely event of a transfer of ownership of any app, users will be notified in advance, and any successor will be bound by the terms of this policy or a replacement policy offering equivalent protections.
Data entered by you within the app (such as values you type into a calculator) is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms (e.g. UserDefaults or local files). This data is protected by your device's built-in security, including passcode and encryption.
Where diagnostic data is transmitted to third-party services, it is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS protocols.
I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure of data, consistent with the requirements of the UK GDPR.
Data stored locally on your device is retained until you delete the app, clear its data via iOS Settings, or uninstall it.
Anonymised diagnostic data held by third-party service providers is retained in accordance with their own retention policies, typically between 30 and 90 days.
I do not retain personal data beyond the period necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
As a UK resident, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), if you believe I have not handled your data lawfully. The ICO can be contacted at ico.org.uk or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
My apps are not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through one of my apps, please contact me at [email protected] and I will take steps to delete it promptly.
Some of my apps — such as family benefit calculators — may be used by parents on behalf of their household. In such cases, any information entered is processed locally on the device and is not accessible to me.
My apps may use the following categories of third-party service. Where a specific service is used in an individual app, it will be disclosed in that app's App Store listing.
All apps are distributed through the Apple App Store and may make use of Apple frameworks including CloudKit, StoreKit (for in-app purchases), and Apple's diagnostic services. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Where used, third-party crash reporting tools collect anonymised technical data as described in Section 2. No personally identifiable information is included in these reports.
I am not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. I encourage you to review their privacy policies where relevant.
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law, my data practices, or the features of my apps. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
For material changes, I will provide notice via an update to the relevant app's App Store listing or, where appropriate, a prompt within the app itself. Your continued use of the app following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
I encourage you to review this policy periodically.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests relating to this Privacy Policy or the handling of your data, please contact me:
I aim to respond to all privacy-related enquiries within 14 days, and in any event within one calendar month as required by the UK GDPR.
